Swan warned on cutbacks

The Daily Telegraph, Pg 67. Staff Reporter. 12 May 2008.

The federal Budget must tackle inflation and provide investment in infrastructure if it is to be considered a success. Treasurer Wayne Swan will hand down his first Budget tomorrow night, with expenditure cuts a top priority to control high inflation.

Mr Swan has promised to deliver a surplus of at least 1.5 per cent GDP- about $17 billion- through spending cuts of up to $4billion.
